Easter trip to WWP

Hello again, it’s Lewis Cannon the Junior Journalist.  On the 5th of April I made my Spring season visit for the Easter holidays.  Spring is the season of new life and there are lots of new babies at Wingham Wildlife Park

Our first sighting of a baby animals were the goats, they’ve recently had 3 new kids. They were so so cute, I wanted to take them all home! They were running and jumping around being very playful.

Wallabies

The Wallaby in the Goats enclosure, kept poking its head through the fence to reach dropped pellets, we got a stroke, it’s fur was so fluffy.

The Wallaby in the Lemur enclosure was sleeping in the grass, woke up, washed itself, then went back to sleep again.

Howler monkey baby

The next baby we saw was a baby Howler monkey. He had it’s head in it’s food tray, eating. It looked a bit clumsy.  A couple of times he fell head first into the food tray, then he almost fell backwards off the branch while climbing back to his Mummy. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a good photo of the Howler monkey because it was a little dark in the indoor enclosure.

Other works

There has been lots of work done and still being done at WWP. The large Spur-thighed Tortoises have been moved into a new enclosure, in the same area as the Giraffes. The Reptile House is still being worked on, I cannot wait until it is finished! The adventure golf is now finished and open and I’m looking forward to getting a game soon.

There’s construction work going on around the lake too.  Some children were feeding the Carp in the lake and there was a fish frenzy, it looked like hundreds of them coming up to the surface.

An Albino Grass Carp was swimming around looking for food on the surface. That is mine and my Daddy’s favourite fish there.

Look out for my Summer season article.

From, Lewis Cannon.
