by Georgia - Head of Training - January 26, 2024

This blog will be celebrating ‘Fun At Work Day’ and dedicated to our keepers with some photos of them doing some of the fun and the not-so fun parts of the job! I wanted to give the keepers a much-needed giggle for the end of January by catching their best side at work.  *Some of…

Meet The “Other” Monkeys

by Senior Keeper - January 18, 2024

Senior Keeper, Holly Hi everyone, I’m Holly, the Senior Primate Keeper here at Wingham Wildlife Park. For my first blog I could have dedicated to all of the primates that everyone loves to talk about here at Wingham Wildlife Park. However, I chose instead to write this one about the “other” monkeys. The monkeys that…

Happy New Year and may the New Year bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to you and your family. For this week’s blog I’m talking to you about one of our newest additions to the park, Naked Mole Rats. If you still haven’t come across them yet they are pink, nearly hairless subterranean rodents that kind…

It’s a GIRL!

by Ruth - Head Keeper - January 3, 2024

Happy New Year to you all and welcome to my first blog of 2024. We were keeping a secret from you all for 8 months! In 2023 our primate keepers reported positive a pregnancy test on 12th May 2023 for Tara, our critically endangered dominate female Western Chimpanzee. We all had our fingers crossed that…

Hi, it’s Celia again and I’m here with my second blog for Wingham Wildlife Park! I visited the park on Thursday 28th December – Brrr (it was cold!). I arrived after lunch as I wanted to listen to the Big Cat Talk at 2pm.  Again, I will concentrate on just two areas of the park…

Turkey Business

by Senior Keeper - December 29, 2023

Deputy Bird Keeper, Ryan When I found out I was doing the Christmas day blog, I struggled to pick a topic. I am a bit of a grinch at Christmas and did struggle to find a topic that would fit in with today that I would genuinely find interesting. That was until I had a…

A pet is for life, not just for Christmas

by Hannah - Reptile Senior Keeper - December 15, 2023

Christmas is just a few weeks away and many people will be eagerly waiting to spend the day opening gifts and eating some good food. On the topic of gift giving, I thought I would talk about the gifting of pets for Christmas, and to be honest, gifting them in general. Back in 1978 the…

A look back on 2023

by Markus - Curator - December 8, 2023

In the middle of November Ruth wrote a blog about 2023 in review with all the exciting developments on the animal side of the park for the previous year and it had lots of exciting events covered.  But I wanted to make an addition to this. This is because while I also work on the…

Meet Team Primates

by Senior Keeper - December 1, 2023

Hi, this week George is taking a break from blogs and this one is coming from me, one of the many Jess’s on our Primate team. This week’s blog is inspired by National Hello Day last week, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to introduce WWP’s wonderful Primate team and let them…

by Matt - Head keeper - November 23, 2023

This week my blog is all about the amazing volunteers that we have working at the park. Each volunteer is a part of the keeping team here and it is important to us keepers to make them feel like they are as well. So, I’d just like to say a massive thank you to all…
