Christmas at Wingham is a beautiful sight with many festivities available on offer. We found additional activities including arts and crafts and tasty, sweet treats. We thought it was important to give the Christmas activities a go, myself and my brother (5) and sister (2) thought they were great! First, there was Gingerbread decorating! We got different coloured icing, pots of sprinkles and a huge gingerbread man to decorate. This was great fun as you can see from the pictures… and they tasted amazing too! (We were also given a bag to take them away in, but ours were demolished very quickly!)

Then we moved onto our next activity in the cafe… letters to Santa! All three of us had a go at it.  We had Christmas paper, envelopes and pens.  This is great for all ages and best of all it was free of charge. All these activities were in a beautifully decorated, festive Claus’ Cosy Kitchen – next to the entrance and reception.

I loved some of the decorations around the cafe which I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures of!

After completing these activities, set off around the park. One thing we found about visiting at this time of year is that you can see animals that are normally hiding in amongst trees and brushes as there are no longer as many leaves that they can hide behind! I got a really good view of one of my favourite animals which are the red pandas. It was great to be able to see them clearer, running around and climbing up the trees. It was awesome, as normally it is hard to try and find them as they are always hiding. Because of this I managed to take some stunning pictures of Mai and Kai. My dream is to feed the Red Panda’s at Wingham one day!

We loved going and seeing the other animals too. We had some fantastic times, watching the otters playing and splashing in the water chasing each other, seeing the giraffes munching on their leaves in their enclosure, Clarence the Lion watching us from the warmth of his enclosure. We listened to the Tiger talk and learnt about how Blade and Troy were hand reared by the keepers at Wingham! We learnt so much listening to this talk

Another exciting thing we caught a tiny glimpse of was the baby Western Chimpanzee cuddled up with her Mum Tara in the Chimp enclosure. We nearly missed her but then noticed a tiny bit of her face peeking out from under her Mum. They were both fast asleep and it was such an adorable sight.

We used the soft play for the first time today too! It was a great break from the cold. We loved all the slides, ball ponds, building bricks… and scaring our parents by climbing to the window in the lion’s mouth. It also gave our parents the chance to have a cup of coffee from the cafe too! We had such a great time. Wigham in the winter is so much fun, we will be going at this time of year again!! We will hopefully be back soon too as My Mum and Brother got a giraffe feeding experience for Christmas!
