Size

Ocellated Bronze Skinks reach 30cm (12 inches) in length and weigh roughly 40g.

Habitat and Distribution

These skinks have a large range being found in countries across Europe, The Middle East, Asia and Northern Africa. They can be found in a number of environments including farmland, coastland and gravel desert.

Diet

They are mostly insectivorous feeding on crickets, isopods, ants, beetles and spiders. However, they have also been known to eat small lizards too (including their own young). They will also eat some plant matter including vegetation, fruit and flowers.

Groups and Breeding

Mothers give birth to up to 6 live young.

Threats

This species is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN with a stable population.
