Habitat and Distribution

Whip scorpions originate from Malaysia and they are a terrestrial invertebrate.

Diet

They eat other invertebrates including molluscs, millipedes, scorpions and many insects.

Interesting Facts

Unlike true scorpions, whip scorpions do not have the venomous sting in their tails. Instead, they defend themselves by squirting an acid from glands at the base of it’s tail to deter predators.

The Whip Scorpion During Your Day Out in Kent

The whip scorpion can be found in our Bug House along with many other invertebrates, including many species of tarantula, white-clawed crayfish and cockroaches.
