Size
The Tractor Millipede can grow up to 9 cm.
Habitat and Distribution
They inhabit forested areas.
Diet
The millipedes feed on leaves, decaying wood and lichen.
Groups and Breeding
There is a delicate mating ritual which culminates with them being face to face and the male transferring a spermatophore to the female which she will use to fertilise the eggs which are then laid in the ground.
Threats
Even though they are collected for the pet trade, they are not affected greatly by this or other threats.
Interesting Facts
They can produce very low levels of cyanide (not strong enough to harm humans, but it’s a very effective defence).

The Tractor Millipedes at Wingham Wildlife Park can be seen in the Bug Garden. This area is home to a wide variety of invertebrates including Salmon Pink Bird Eating Tarantula, Unicorn Snails and Sun Beetles.
