The Israeli Gold Scorpion Natural History

Size

These scorpions grow to around 7.5cm (3 inches).

Habitat and Distribution

The Israeli Gold Scorpion inhabits deep burrows in deserts and sparse woodlands across a very large range. They can be found all the way from Northern Africa to the Middle East.

Diet

They are mostly insectivores, feeding on a variety of insects.

Groups and Breeding

They are ovoviviparous meaning that they have eggs which hatch inside the body before being birthed. They have anywhere between 8 and 20 young.

Threats

Even though it is captured for the pet trade it has a wide range and is relatively common throughout.

Interesting Facts

This species lives in burrows up to 1 meter deep. It can also be found living in colonies however each individual will have its own burrow within the colony range.
